References need a point of view.

A moodboard can quickly collect a shared atmosphere, but collection is not direction. If a reference cannot be translated into a decision about type, space, color, imagery, or interaction, it remains a feeling without a plan.

The useful step is to name what each reference is teaching. One image may demonstrate restraint in cropping. Another may suggest a material palette. A third may reveal a pace for editorial reading. Turn the visual evidence into a few rules the team can use.

From taste to direction

Direction creates a useful boundary: this belongs, that does not. It gives the work enough structure to become distinctive instead of merely attractive.
